Phuket TAT launches 9 Temples Tour
PHUKET: The Phuket “9 Temples Tour” began today as a way to round out the Chinese New Year festivities and to usher in the Phuket Old Town Festival, which gets underway on Sunday.

The tour departs the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket office on Thalang Road in Phuket Town each day at 9:30am and 10:30am, taking visitors to nine Chinese Shrines in and around Phuket Town on board a Phuket-style Poh Thong bus.

The tour, costing 199 baht per person, visits the following shrines:

1. Phud Jor Shrine, to pray for luck

2. Jui Tui Shrine, to pray for health

3. Guan Imm Pho Thai Sat Shrine, to pray for success

4. Kathu Shrine, to pray for charm (midday lunch at Kathu Shrine)

5. Samkong Shrine, to pray for health

6. Jang Ong Shrine, to pray for health

7. Bang Neow Shrine, to pray for career advancement

8. Kew Tien Keang Shrine (Sapan Hin Shrine), to pray for happiness and prestige

9. Sang Thum Shrine, to pray for intelligence and wisdom

Return to the TAT Phuket office at about 3pm to 3:15pm.

“The Poh Thong bus, our Sino-Portuguese architecture, culture and unique lifestyle are the symbols and the pride of the Phuket people. I hope everyone can experience it with our tour,” said Bangonrat Shinaprayoon, the director of the TAT regional office in Phuket.

“I hope the tour helps promote tourism to the Phuket Old Town area and makes it more popular among tourists. Most tourists who come to Phuket stay by the beach, but the Old Town is just as charming and beautiful,” she added.
