My Thai wife just stayed at Bangkok Hospital Phuket for one night due to having a severe migraine. When she arrived at the hospital she was told that the charge for the room would be 2,900 baht, but when she checked out, the room rate was 6,000 baht because my wife was paying for it with her international medical insurance.
Is this the way that Bangkok Hospital Phuket treats its international customers?

The room price of 2,900 baht is the discounted price for cash payments. If the hospital is being paid in cash, there is an automatic discount.
In cases where a third party is paying for the hospital bill, the rates will be according to those agreed upon by the hospital and the third party.
In this case, it was an insurance company. I would be most willing to answer any other issues of concern to you.
