On January 9, 2009, I deposited a check from the US into my Siam Commercial Bank account. I was told it would take a ridiculous 45 - 60 days before this money would be available in my Thai account.
The money was actually withdrawn from my US bank on 20/1/2009. So, if my US bank and I do not have the money, then surely the SCB does.
Why will it take another 35 - 49 days to put it in my account? In many countries this is considered an illegal non-interest bearing “float”.

The bank requires between 45-60 days for processing because they have to send the check back to get the money from the bank in the US.
Once the money arrives at the main SCB branch in Bangkok, it then takes another two to three days to process, while it is forwarded to the Phuket branch.
