Water is supposed to cost three to five baht per cubic meter. We’re paying 15 baht because we have to buy our water from a private distributor, but there are several hundred houses in our village and some of them are getting state-supplied water. We, on the other hand, don’t get a choice.
Can an officer from the water authority please explain how we can get cheaper water?

If you own your house you can apply for your own water meter. You need to go to the Provincial Waterworks Authority in Kathu with a copy of your ID card, house registration document and the contract you signed when you bought your house.
If you don’t own your house and are renting instead, we need authorization from your landlord, a copy of the landlord’s ID card and relevant documents for the house.
The normal charge for water is eight baht per cubic meter.
