My brother has just completed his bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy (BPT) in India. Can he practice here in Phuket? Can doctors from other countries practice medicine here in Thailand?

Foreign doctors can apply for a work permit, but you need to get a license to practice medicine from the Medical Council of Thailand if you wish to work here long-term.
If that is the case, you have to pass a test in Thai in order to get a permanent license. If you are here to practice medicine temporarily on a contract basis, you must contact the Phuket Provincial Public Health office and apply for a permit covering the duration of your stay.
For more information contact: Phuket Provincial Public Health Office at Narisorn Road in Phuket Town or call 076-211 330.
Alternatively, contact: the Medical Council of Thailand at Building 6, Floor 7, Building of Secretary Ministry of Public Health, Thiwanon Road, Nonthaburi or call 02-590-1880-3.
