Banking hours are 8:30 a.m. -3:30
p.m., Monday-Friday.The banks are concentrated in Phuket Town and Patong.
Most banks operate money changing facilities in Phuket Town and Patong.
Most of these are open Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, and many are open until 9
or 10 o'clock at night. All deal at bank, or very-near-bank, rates.
Passport identification is required for transactions other than changing of notes. Cash
advances can be obtained against major credit cards.
The local bus terminal in Phuket Town is
in front of the Central Market. Buses depart at 15- or 30-minute intervals from 8:00 a.m.
to 6:00 p.m. daily. Average cost: B10-20. To get into town from outlying areas,
simply flag down any bus.
The intercity bus terminal is located off Phang Nga Rd behind the City Park
Complex in Phuket Town. Tel: 211480.

For cars and jeeps, Avis, Budget,
Hertz and VIA have substantial operations in Phuket. Your hotel will know how
to reach them.
It is also possible to rent jeeps and motorbikes from independent
owners throughout the island.
Renters are urged to seek assurance regarding vehicle condition and
insurance. In Thailand, it is the driver - not the owner - who is responsible for
compliance with the law and for any damages, including third party claims, arising out of
an accident.
A valid international license is required of visitors driving here.
Experienced drivers will be quick to note that a much greater than average degree of
risk prevails on the roads of Phuket.
