Appeal period extended in Dokset murder case

PHUKET: Both sides in the Dokset murder case have requested an extension to the appeal period, the Phuket Gazette was told yesterday.

Norwegian national Stein Harvard Dokset, a long-term Phuket expat, was sentenced to nine years in prison for the brutal killing and disposing of the body of his ex-girlfriend Rungnapa Suktong (story here).

“Normally, after the sentencing, both sides have one month to appeal the sentence. However, if they aren’t ready, the period can be extended,” said the Dokset case prosecutor, who declined to be named.

A court staffer, who also declined to be named, confirmed that both the defence team and the prosecutor had asked for the period to be extended.
