Bombings in Pattani kill one, injure several and damage hotel

PATTANI: Three bombs rocked the southern province of Pattani last night, killing one and injuring dozens.

The first bomb exploded in a parking space behind a bar in Muang District around 11pm but did not result in any loss of life.

The second bomb, hidden inside a vehicle, blew up a short time later in front of the Southern View Hotel about 60 meters from the first blast, killing a 35-year-old food seller named Orapan Sriruenhut from Ubon Ratchathani Province.

The blast also caused extensive damage to the hotel.

Unconfirmed reports say about 30 people were wounded in the hotel blast.

A third blast occurred near a fresh market in Nong Chik District but no injuries were reported.
