Crumbling pillars force closure of Jungceylon shops
PHUKET: Jungceylon CEO Prawit Janyasitikul confirmed today that four concrete pillars were found to be damaged on Monday in the mall’s basement indoor market, the Port Zone.
The area was immediately closed off after the discovery on Sunday evening. However, the rest of the shopping mall remains open for business, said Mr Prawit.
“The safety of our shoppers and staff is our first priority. There is no danger to anyone,” he said.
Radab Kanchanawanit, director of KCS & Associates Company Limited, said that they are working to fix the structure immediately.
“We cannot say the reason for the damaged pillars right now. Engineers are looking into it,” said Mr Prawit.
About 20 shops in the area are affected by the closure.
Jungceylon confirmed that they would not charge them rent while the area is closed off.
