Danish tourist with drug-abuse history found dead in Phuket
PHUKET: Police are investigating the death of a 52-year-old Danish tourist who was found dead in his Patong hotel room yesterday.
“Kenny Isabella Kjaer Olesen was discovered in his room at The Oddy Hip Hotel by one of the cleaning staffers,” said Lt Col Jetsada Saengsuree of the Patong Police.
“He was wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts when we arrived at the scene.”
Police believe that Mr Olesen, who checked in a few days earlier, had died about seven to eight hours prior to the discovery.
“There was no sign of a struggle or drug use in his room,” Lt Col Jetsada said.
“Mr Olesen had a record of going through drug rehabilitation at Bangkok Hospital Phuket, but we have yet to establish the cause of death.”
Mr Olesen’s body was taken to Patong Hospital to determine the cause of death.
