Phuket gamers spared as car slams shopfront power pole

PHUKET: A woman has been charged for reckless driving after her car slammed into an SUV parked in front of an internet and online gaming cafe, then wiped out two motorcycles in Pa Khlok last night.

The car, a Krabi-registered Toyota Vios, came to a stop only after hitting a power pole in front of the cafe, reported Lt Suporn Muangkhai of the Thalang Police.

“When we arrived at the Majestic Cafe soon after 9pm, one of the motorcycles was still pinned under the car,” he noted.

The driver Jutatip Juhong, 26, walked away from the crash site, on the main road to the Heroines Monument, unharmed.

“She said that she swerved to avoid a motorbike that had cut off,” Lt Suporn noted.

Miss Jutatip, visibly still frightened and with tears in her eyes, was thankful no people were injured in the accident.

“Fortunately, nobody was hurt – not me or anyone in the cafe,” she said.

Cafe customer Thanate Jianjaroen was also thankful.

“Luckily, the car didn’t crash into the cafe, otherwise me and the five kids in the cafe may have been hurt or even killed,” he said.

Miss Jutatip was taken to Thalang Police Station and charged. While there, she also began negotiations to settle for damages.
