Phuket’s air quality returns to safe levels
PHUKET: The haze over Phuket caused by fires in Indonesia has dissipated and the air quality has returned to normal, confirmed Pornsri Suthanarak, director of the Regional Environmental Office.
“The wildfire that began on August 22, started to affect Phuket nearly a week later [story here], causing a haze comprising more than 120 micrograms of particles per cubic meter, which is above safe levels. As expected, it took a few days to fade away,” Ms Pornsri said.
The amount of particles in the air has been dropping steadily. Air quality rose over the weekend, with Saturday to Sunday morning measuring at 41 micrograms per cubic meters. In the last 24 hours, officials measured 31 micrograms per cubic meter, Ms Pornsri confirmed.
