Unidentified body found in Phuket Town canal

PHUKET: Police are working to identify a dead body found floating in a canal near the Waste Incineration Power Plant and Landfill at Saphan Hin, on the outskirts of Phuket Town yesterday morning.

Local villagers alerted the police of the discovery at about 7:30am.

“We believe the man had gone fishing and fell into the water without anyone noticing. It appears that he was struck by a passing boat,” said Phuket City Police Superintendent Sermphan Sirikong.

“He looks to have been between 20 to 25 years old. The man’s body is 5.5 feet tall and there is a tattoo of a carp on his back.”
