Unidentified body found under bridge in northern Phuket

PHUKET: Police are attempting to identify the body of a possible murder victim found under a bridge in northern Phuket this morning.

Officers from the Tah Chat Chai Police arrived at the scene, under a bridge on the road leading to the now closed Imperial Adamas Beach Resort in Nai Yang, at about 10am.

“We believe that the man, who was about 30 years old, was killed and then his body dumped under the bridge,” said Lt Col Watcharin Chiratkarnvivat of Tah Chat Chai Police.

“There was a cut on the back of his head about one-inch wide and two-centimeters deep, and the body had bruising on the neck, forehead and left side of the head and face

“We believe the man had been dead for about 12 hours before his body was found.”

The body had a large ornate tattoo extending from the left upper chest to the left elbow, added Lt Col Watcharin.

“We did not find any form of identification at the scene,” he said.

The body was transported to Thalang Hospital.

“We are waiting for hospital staff to confirm the cause of death,” said Col Watcharin. “Meanwhile, we are continuing our investigation.”
