Woman dies in car crash on slippery Krabi road

PHUKET: A woman died yesterday when she lost control of her pick-up truck on a wet road in Krabi and slammed into a pole.

Police arrived at the scene on Petchkasem Road in Khlong Thom district at about 10am to find a pick-up truck wrapped around a sign pole in the median of the road.

“Phonphan Khongyot, 31, died instantly in the collision, and her pick-up truck was completely destroyed,” Lt Col Pratuang Wongdech of the Khlong Thom Police told the Phuket Gazette.

Police believe that Ms Phonphan was driving at high speed toward Krabi Town from Khlong Thom when she lost control of her pick-up truck on the road, which was wet from a recent rainstorm, and swerved toward the median where she crashed into the pole, explained Col Pratuang.
