PHUKET: A bevy of 20 Miss Thailand World 2013 contestants are in Phuket to attend high-profile publicity events and join a swimsuit beach photo shoot tomorrow morning.
After the contestants arrived at Phuket International Airport yesterday morning, they paid homage to Thao Thepkrasattri and Thao Srisoonthorn at the Heroines’ Monument in Thalang, then visited the Phuket Pearl Farm at Koh Maphrao, off Phuket’s east coast.
In the afternoon, they visited Provincial Hall, where they were warmly welcomed by Phuket Governor Maitri Inthusut.
The beauties walked the streets of Phuket’s Old Town, soaking up the sights of the Sino-Portuguese architecture and sampling some of the local culture, before heading off to Promthep Cape to enjoy the sunset.
Also on the itinerary during the three-day stopover are visits to Wat Chalong, Phra Thong temple in Thalang, Phuket Panyanukul (Special Education) School and Baan Lung Pitak Child-Watch Phuket.
The ladies will also take part in sport activities and a swimsuit photo shoot on the beach in front of the Cape Panwa Hotel, where they are staying, tomorrow at 7am.
With their Phuket visit behind them, the group will travel to Myanmar on March 25-29 to promote Thai culture by joining a fashion show themed “Beauty still has value... Beauty to the sight of Asean”.
The contestants will return to Bangkok for the final round of the Miss Thailand World pageant, to be held at the Bangkok Convention Center at Centara Grand at Central World on April 9.
The pageant finale will be broadcast nationwide on Thai TV Channel 3 on April 10, starting at 10:30pm.
