June 14 Computer Clinic canceled

CHERNG TALAY, PHUKET: Computer guru Woody Leonhard�s next Sunday morning Computer Clinic, currently scheduled for June 14 at Sandwich Shoppe Laguna, has been canceled so as not to conflict with the Laguna Marathon, which takes place on the same day. The course of the race passes directly in front of the shop, and access to the shop from the main roads will be quite difficult that morning.

All other Sunday morning clinics will take place as scheduled � June 21 and 28 at Sandwich Shoppe Chalong, July 5 at Sandwich Shoppe Patong, July 12 at Sandwich Shoppe Laguna, and onwards as planned. ... Full story

PHUKET CITY: Phuket City Municipality is inviting all residents to upgrade their old Thai ID cards to the new �Smart ID Card� that can be used to conduct business and make transactions at all government offices nationwide.

Phuket City, which comprises tambons Talad Yai and Talad Nua, currently has an official population of 76,388.

PSU to host ACM-ICPC computer programming contest qualifiers

PHUKET: The Department of Computer Engineering at Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus is to hold its qualifiers for the Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC) in July this year.

The ACM-ICPC is a prestigious, multi-tiered global computer programming competition for university teams from around the world.

Qualifying teams will compete in the Asian Regional ACM-ICPC in November 2009, with the chance of going all the way to the World Finals in 2010. ... Full story
