PHUKET: Relieved but exhilarated five paddleboarders successfully finished their 32-kilometer paddling challenge from Koh Lanta to Koh Phi Phi earlier this month.

In a time of 4 hours and 32 minutes on February 3, the "Stand Up Paddle" (SUP) team successfully laid their boards to rest on Phi Phi Don.

Team members were Starboard team rider, Lina Augaitis; Owner of Lanta Paddlesports, Pete Compere; Swedish SUP ambassador, Richard Billter; Starboard team rider, Andrew Dye; and Swedish SUP ambassador, Stefan Druve Regen.

Village go coco-nuts over Patong defeat

PHUKET: In a crucial Phuket Island Furniture League match, Patong and the Village faced each other at the ACG with both teams needing a win to boost their hopes of a showdown with title favorites, Laguna CC.

Undefeated so far this season, the Village knew that taking points from Patong would effectively end the reigning champions expectations of at least making another final and place themselves in strong contention to become champions.

Village support has been extraordinary all season, and this game again brought out the crowds whose vocal presence suggested that a portion of the �Barmy Army� � England�s traveling cricket support faction � had left Dubai, where England are playing Pakistan, to take up temporary residence at the ACG.

Sweet sixteen in Phuket's AFL round four

PHUKET: Cancelled and postponed games meant only two matches were played in round four of the Phuket Adult Futsal League presented by Thanachart Bank.

Despite only two games on the card, sixteen goals were scored to ensure an exhilarating night of football.

TSLC and SGS faced off in the first encounter with the home side looking to keep their unbeaten record having won their previous three games.

PHUKET: The new Phuket Super Six League (PSSL) exploded into action with 41 goals recorded over just four games on its opening night at Football Island.

Alberto Mancuso�s Ristorante Rugantino began the net-busting frenzy by knocking Joseph Arimathea�s young Eden FC team out of the park on a 10-0 scoreline. The experienced Italian team took an early lead from a goal by Jacopo Jajo, and from there the Italian side gorged themselves at the goalscoring buffet.

PHUKET: The famous Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) based at the historic Lords ground in England play their first Thailand tour game tomorrow in a momentous event for the ACG and Phuket cricket.

Starting at 2pm, a selection of Phuket�s cricket fraternity will don their whites and play a match to be remembered for the rest of their lives.

Non-cricketers may not be enamored by the event, but to put it in context it could be compared to the English Football Association (FA) or the International Rugby Board (IRB) sending a development squad to Phuket to help raise awareness of their particular sport.

Day four of the regatta greeted crews with clear skies and good wind as they left their anchorage off the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort and headed to Ao Chalong for the regatta�s final party and awards ceremony at the Ao Chalong Yacht Club (ACYC).

Andrev�s fellow countryman, Nikiforov Evgenis on Gastion, came second on the strength of two seconds, a first and a third totalling eight points.

PHUKET: Brazilian Soccer School�s second international football tournament took place recently at Thanyapura Sports and Leisure Club (TSLC) with hundreds of young enthusiasts there to show their passion and flair for the beautiful game.

Team Synergy, a team that is co-sponsored by TSLC, won the U14 title and did so without losing a single match.

Nine local boys from Phuket made up the team with three players from the Youth Football Home and the rest of the team made up of young footballers from various schools around Phuket.

PHUKET: Kiteboard Tour Asia (KTA) and television sailing channel Marine Scene Asia announced recently the signing of a media partnership agreement for the coming season.

Marine Scene Asia is a specialist sailing channel that produces programming that covers all aspects of the Asian yachting and boating scene.

In particular, it focuses on covering competitive sailing regattas which is an important new outlet and audience base for the KTA and kiteboarding.
