Airshow & Family Picnic
To celebrate American Independence Day, Phuket Airpark and the Navy League got together to stage a spectacular airshow and family picnic weekend. Featuring live music from Black n Blue and Pjae Stanley and the Lost Legends, among others, amazing stunt flying by Les Vorosmarthy, skydiving demos and helicopter and plane rides, the weekend attracted almost 7,000 visitors from around the island and beyond.
Phuket's Butterfly Garden hosts charity drive
The Phuket Butterfly Garden and Insect World hosted a charity drive for the Love and Care organization, a new fund-raising initiative from the Center for the Protection of Children's Rights Foundation. Also in the news, Rajabhat University's Phuket Campus recently held it's graduation ceremony for the Class of 2013.
Renaissance at Sanaeha
Phuket Town hotspot Sanaeha recently played host to guests from the Renaissance Phuket Resort at the far north of the island. As part of the hotel chain's international Day of Discovery, guests were introduced to the wonders of classic Sino-Portuguese architecture and Phuket hospitality at Sanaeha.
Classical music in Patong
Classical and avantgarde music came to Phuket recently with a concert by percussionist Thierry Miroglio and pianist Ancuza Aprodu at Royal Phawadee Village. The musicians performed both solo and duet pieces by a range of composers including Chopin, Xenakis, Ohana, Mantovani and Bernstein
Krix Luther's Boot Camp Beach Cleanup
Expat personal trainer Krix Luther loves Phuket but was horrified with the trash accumulating on his favourite beach, Naiharn. So Krix came up with a way to give back to the island and encourage others to take an interest in the environment – a free workout every Saturday morning for anyone willing to help him clean up the beach afterwards.
