Logos Hope visits Phuket
Phuket Today takes an exclusive tour around the world largest floating library, the MV Logos Hope. This former ferry from the fjords had been completely refitted to accommodate over 5,000 books and 400 volunteer crew, who sail around the world doing good deeds and encouraging universal literacy.
Southside concert at Connext
Thai rap stars Southside came home to Phuket recently for a gig at the grand opening of Connext condo in Phuket Town. Phuket Today talked with the two local ladies behind the condo project, Lakkana and Peeraya Teowattanakul of Phuket Thanee Co Ltd, both of whom are big Southside fans.
Thai silk fashion show
To honor Her Majesty the Queen's 81st birthday, Phuket provincial authorities and local business leaders came together to stage a spectacular Thai Silk Fashion Show in the huge new conference hall at Rajaphat University. Phuket Governor Maitri Inthusut introduces this feature, highlighting some of the many activities Phuketians took part in to celebrate HM Queen Sirikit's birthday.
Bodybuilders and mangrove planting
The Phuket Classic bodybuilding contest is set for this September at Central Festival. Local bodybuilding legend Wilaiporn Wannaklang talks to Phuekt Today about the sport and her efforts to promote it in Thailand. Meanwhile Vice-Governor Sommai lead a group and students and volunteers to re-plaqnt a tract of mangrove forest that had been destroyed by vandals.
Tara turns Japanese
Phuket Today presenter Tara Sudlow heads to Jungceylon for the Ennichi Japan Festival. Staged to promote Japanese culture in Phuket, the event gathered iconic Japanese food, fun and cosplayers. Tara tries her hand at dressing in a Kimono, cooking tepanyaki, meets some of the cosplayers and is caught in a love triangle between a pair of superheroes.
Go Eco Phuket's emergency Shark Point cleanup
Phuket Today's full coverage of Go Eco Phuket's efforts to save one of Phuket's top dive destinations, Shark Point. The marine conservation group organized about 25 dive volunteers to remove a large fishing net wrapped around pinnacle two at the Shark Point dive site.
