An Evolution in Cinema
Visual entertainment reaches new heights in Phuket with the recent arrival of Evolution Cinema. This Full Dome cinema experience, the first in Thailand, places viewers in relaxed recliners to view digitally created movies that span the entire interior area of the semi-spherical theater. Set up at Central Festival Phuket, the Full Dome experience runs from 11am to 11pm daily with a range of eye-boggling features created to astound and teach the viewers.
Phuket Expat Sherin Peace
Mrs World 2005 finalist Sherin Peace has spent the past 13 years traveling to and living in some of the more exotic places around the world and then, quite by accident, her family discovered Phuket and Sherin finally settled (well, for now at least). Now Sherin spends her days rescuing stray animals and finding them homes around the island.
BIS International Day
British International School Phuket recently staged an International Day celebration with students, staff and parents donning national costumes. 44 countries were represented by participants, including some British Morris Dancers. In other news, Thai broadcasting giant MCOT recently brought their roadshow to Phuket to introduce viewers to some of their big name stars.
Turtle release at Mai Khao Beach
JW Marriott Resort and Spa recently held a turtle release at Mai Khao Beach in conjunction with the Phuket Marine Biological Center where over one hundred sponsored turtles were given a helping hand into the surf. Phuket Today talked to Dr Robert Mather of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Phet Manopetvitch of WWF Thailand.

Tom Howard's new Phuket classic
Kiranee Narabal talks to Tom Howard about his very recently restored classic, Marie G. Over sixty years ago, she was a Royal Air Force support vessel in Singapore. She was brought to Phuket to work for an offshore mining concern and then became a runabout for a Phuket hotel. Tom found her bottomless and rotting away on the hard stand and decided that the old lady deserved better.
QSI Fun Run
Kiranee Narabal begins work on her training for the Laguna Phuket International Marathon at the QSI annual fun run around the beautiful Bang Wad Dam reservoir in Kathu, and meets with some of the people from the charitable organization supporting the fun run and making it a fun day for under-privileged youngsters.
Lion King rehearsals at BIS
The students, parents and teachers at Phuket's British International School are working hard to perfect their musical stage production of The Lion King in time for its premiere on 1 April. Head of Arts, Neill Thacker, talks about the challenges they still have to overcome. The show runs from 1 to 3 April at the BIS auditorium.
A History of Phuket book launch
Colin Mackay launches his new book, A History of Phuket and the Surrounding Region, at a packed event at Royal Phuket Marina.
