Dangerous Dogs

What can be done about dogs in my neighborhood that attack people walking or riding by on their motobikes? Some of these dogs are strays while others belong to irresponsible owners who feed them but take no further responsibility for their “pets” and have no regard for others in the neighborhood. I’m concerned about the safety of my wife, myself, my pets and everyone else in the area who is terrorized by these vicious animals. These incidents occur nearly every day.

Very Concerned, Patong.

Any person who owns a dog must keep the dog on his property. If you have a problem with, say, a stray dog, you can go to the local municipal office and file a complaint so they can investigate and decide what to do with the dog. We continually bring up this problem in meetings of the Phuket Provincial Livestock Office committee. Unfortunately, we don’t have the space or the budget to round up and keep strays.
