Where’s Yingluck? CNN report contradicts Thai PM

Thailand’s former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is in London and seeking political asylum in the United Kingdom, a source in her Pheu Thai Party told CNN on Thursday.
The Supreme Court convicted Yingluck on Wednesday of dereliction of duty over a controversial rice subsidy program and sentenced her to five years in prison. The scheme cost Thailand billions of dollars.
But, contradicting this current claim, on Thursday the Thai PM claimed he was advised that Yingluck was in Dubai, the residence of Yingluck’s brother, Thaksin, who fled Thailand in 2008 to escape justice and a rising pile of court cases being brought against him.
The UK’s foreign ministry is saying it doesn’t discuss individual cases of people seeking politic asylum.
So where’s Yingluck? For Thailand’s political commentators, Yingluck’s exit from local politics is probably a win-win for everyone – Yingluck’s living comfortably, somewhere, and a daily reminder of the Shinawatra shadow are no longer a problem for the ruling military-led Government in the Kingdom of Thailand.
