PHUKET: The Phuket Gazette is pleased to announce the recent promotion of Isaac Stone Simonelli to the position of Editor-in-chief.
Having spent his years at the Gazette in various roles, including PGTV news presenter, news editor and then Managing Editor (story here), Mr Simonelli is well versed in the major local, national and international issues that affect Phuket people most.
“The media world has changed to the point that our readers expect not only the same quality and even-handed presentation of news as the world’s major newspapers, but also a bigger-than-average dose of features – the faces, personalities, opinions and bizarre happenings that make our island so colorful, if not at times almost incomprehensible,” Mr Simonelli said.
“The rapid pace at which the industry is evolving has also created a plethora of opportunities to connect with our readers, as well as collect readership data that can guide our content and ensure that we are best serving the community.
“Additionally, we are seeing new ways for advertisers to focus their efforts, so that those who want and need their services are able to effectively find them.”
In his new role, Mr Simonelli will continue to oversee editorial policy and content management for the web, the newspaper and social media sites, as well as develop long-term marketing strategies to ensure that the Phuket Gazette remains the best place for the island, region and world to get its news.
“I’m excited to undertake these new responsibilities within the management team and continue to play my part in the social and digital revolution that is redefining how we consume information, especially here at the island’s leading newspaper and the Gazette Online, Google’s top-ranked website for Phuket,” Mr Simonelli added.
