Beatle Mania: Phuket, are you ready for tonight?

PHUKET: Preparations are complete for what looks set to be a fantastic show tonight and tomorrow night when the curtains open on the fabulous Beatles tribute band at 7pm, in the grand marquee at the Phuket Boat Lagoon.

The seated tickets (1,500 baht) are completely sold out for both nights, and the lounge tickets for this Gazette Headline Event are selling fast, with less than 15% of them remaining.

It will be the first-ever show in Thailand for this world famous band, who have toured the globe from the Middle East to Europe, the USA and throughout Asia.

The fab four arrived in Phuket on Wednesday and the Gazette had a chance to catch up with them to ask what was in store for us.

“It’s a great show,” says Peter, who plays Paul McCartney. “We start from Love Me Do and go right up through their career, with Help!, All My Loving, Hey Jude!…. We also make four or five costume changes. We even do a section from Sergeant Peppers – songs which they never performed live – so it’s nice to get the opportunity to play them here.

“We’ve never been to Thailand, so the people are going to get a first. It’s a really good show, it’s really interactive, there’s no rules, so if people want to clap their hands and sing along that’s cool.

“It really is a celebration of the Beatles. It’s the whole story, how they started off as a rock and roll band and went right on through and changed the way people saw music and art.”

Get your tickets quickly if you want to be there. Limited stocks (lounge only) are currently available at the Phuket Gazette offices; Villa Market, Chalong; Les Diables, Boat Lagoon; and Canal Village at Laguna Phuket.

Call Kanjana (‘Jane’) at the Gazette on 081-550 7379, or Sonu of Events International (091-326 0276), for updates on tickets. Or take a chance on purchasing at the door, where it will be strictly first come, first served. The doors open at 6:30 tonight.
