Argument leads to fatal fight outside Phuket karaoke bar

PHUKET: A violent argument in a Phuket karaoke bar on Saturday ended in the death of a fisherman.

The unidentified man was drinking with friends at Nong Man Karaoke bar on Sri Sena Road when they began arguing with four fisherman at a nearby table, witnesses told police.

“They started fighting outside the karaoke bar,” said Capt Udom Petcharat of the Phuket City Police.

“The victim’s two friends were able to run away, but he was not.”

The man’s body was still in the road when police, who were called at 11:15, arrived at the scene.

“The man had been stabbed five times, in the neck, back and chest. We believe he died immediately. Witnesses did not see the murder weapon, but we think it was a thin sharp object.”

“Witnesses told us he worked on a fishing boat, but we have not identified him yet because he was not carrying ID,” said Capt Udom.

“He was about 165 centimeters tall, had dark skin and appeared to be about 30 years old.”

Police continue to search for the suspects.
