Award for Phuket from vegetarian mag
SAN FRANCISCO: Phuket during the Vegetarian Festival has been named as one of the “10 Best Veg Destinations in the World” by the San-Francisco-based VegNews magazine.
In its third annual Veggie Awards, the magazine also singles out places, tours or events in Morocco, Italy, the UK, Mexico, Kenya, Maine in the US, the US Virgin Islands, Hawaii and Costa Rica.
Of the Phuket entry it remarks, “[The] Phuket Vegetarian Festival is not the kind of festival populated by gentle tree huggers in hemp pants playing djembes, doing yoga asanas and drinking spirulina smoothies.
“And it’s not for the faint of heart. But it is a colorful event every vegetarian will want to attend, though perhaps not something every vegetarian will wish to participate in.”
VegNews claims a readership of 100,000, which it provides with “information on living a compassionate and healthy lifestyle”.
