Bar closed over lewd show

PATONG: Governor CEO Pongpayome Vasaputi has temporarily closed a go-go bar in Patong’s Soi Seadragon after complaints that a lewd and immoral show was performed there. Two Norwegian tourists took photographs to Kathu police as evidence of Norwegian women competing with Thai bar girls in what they described as a “shameful performance.” At first the Pink Panther bar was fined 2,000 baht, then the Governor intervened and ordered the bar to close from November 30 to December 30. Somporn Tansakul, 41, who was running the bar on behalf of the owner, Sakorn Kornsawan, 34, said he thought tourists would like the show. But the Governor said, “It was a shameful show. That’s why I decreed the bar to close for a while, as a warning.”
