Employers turn in 126 “unemployables’

PHUKET: In the latest development of the government’s crackdown on illegal aliens, 126 Burmese have been rounded up and will be shipped back to Burma within the next few days. Phuket Immigration made the arrests after tip-offs from Phuket employers. Three days ago, police publicly urged employers to tell police of any Burmese who are not fit to work as a laborers, specifically those too young or too old, or sick or disabled. Of the Burmese facing repatriation, 24 are men, 40 are women and 61 are children. They will be transported in a locked pen on the back of an Immigration Department truck.
