Exposed Phuket electrical wires shock three construction workers, one still unconscious

PHUKET: Three Myanmar nationals working on a construction site in central Phuket suffered an intense electric shock while on the job this afternoon; one is still unconscious.

“After questioning co-workers, we learned that the men were sitting on metal scaffolding waiting for buckets of cement to be lifted up to them by crane,” said Witchit Police Capt Prawat Tantibussapun, who led a team to the accident scene in front of the Dara Hotel on Chao Fa West Road.

“The crane hit some exposed electrical wires above the men and the electric current flowed through the scaffolding they were sitting on, shocking all three of them.”

The workers were rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital.

“Zaw Zaw Aung, 25, and Sary Chhoeuy, 34, are both awake and recovering. Win Maung, 25, however, is still unconscious,” confirmed a hospital staffer this afternoon.
