Floods force Bangkok buses to Phuket to relocate to brewery

PHUKET: Rising flood waters in Bangkok have forced the Transport Company to relocate bus services to Phuket from the main southern bus terminal, Sai Tai Mai, to the Holland Beer Restaurant on Rama 2 Road in Bangkok’s Bang Khuntien District, Thonburi.

“We had to close the southern bus terminal because all the roads around it were flooded,” said Transport Company Managing Director Wuthichart Gunlayanimit.

“We will operate all buses to and from Southern Thailand from the Holland Beer Restaurant until the situation returns to normal,” he added.

The restaurant is a popular themed venue that brews on site and offers live entertainment on stage. Click here for a map.

Meanwhile, trains to and from Southern Thailand are still operating out of Nakhon Pathom Station, to the west of Bangkok.

Train services to Southern Thailand were shut down at Bangkok’s Hua Lampong Station on October 27 after floods covered the tracks used for Southern Line services.

“We still can’t operate trains to the south from Hua Lampong. At the moment the water is 51 centimeters above the rails from Bang Sue Station to Bang Bumru station,” a State Railway of Thailand call center operator told the Phuket Gazette today.

“We are still providing the free shuttle service between Hua Lampong and Nakhon Pathom Station. Passengers who have tickets to any destination in the South can continue on to their destination from this point,” she said.

People who have bought tickets in advance and do not wish to travel by train can get a full refund at the station where they bought the ticket, or at the ticket booth at Hua Lampong Station, she added.
