Forensic tests “will nail Krabi murder suspect’

KRABI: Police are waiting for the results of an autopsy and other forensic tests which, they believe, will cement their case against boatman Kasem “Maew” Dumdee, accused of the murder of German tourist Cao Ghu on October 1. These results should be delivered to Krabi from Bangkok in two or three days, said Pol Lt Col Somdej Sukkarn, the case investigator at Krabi Police Station. Among the evidence being examined are samples of hair from the dead woman, which are being compared with hair found in Kasem’s boat. “The suspect will not get away with this. We have witnesses and evidence found on his boat,” said Col Somdej. Ms Ghu disappeared on October 1 after taking a boat to Rai Lay beach. Her body was found floating face down near Koh Gai two days later. During initial questioning, Maew allegedly admitted to beating Ms Ghu to death and stealing 1,000 baht from her.
