Four Phuket hotels get five-star rating

PHUKET: JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, Dusit Laguna Resort, Sheraton Grand Laguna Phuket and the Mangosteen Resort & Spa have each been given a coveted five-star rating, marking them out as among the best in Thailand.

The accolade was awarded by the Foundation for Standards and Human Resources Development in the Service and Tourism Industry (Hotel Standards) on September 27, World Tourism Day.

Suwalai Pinpradab, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Office, said that this year just 35 hotels and resorts in Thailand were included in the yearly ratings system. The system is divided into five categories and arranged in ascending order, with five stars denoting the highest standard.

“Hotels were rated in three aspects; the standard of construction and facilities, the standard of maintenance and the standard of service,” she said.

The five-star rating is valid for three years, unless it is canceled for a specific reason before its expiry.
