Man dies after slamming motorbike into parked trailer

PHUKET: A unidentified man died after he slammed his motorbike into the back of a parked 10-wheeled trailer in central Phuket last night.

Police arrived at the scene on Srisoonthorn Road heading toward Cherng Talay, about 350 meters from the Heroines’ Monument, at about 11:15pm to find the man dead at the scene.

“The man had sustained fatal injuries to his head. He was not wearing a helmet when he hit the trailer,” said Lt Kraisorn Boonprasop of the Thalang Police.

“We couldn’t find any sort of identification on the body, so we are trying to track down the man’s identity through the motorcycle registration. His body was sent to Thalang Hospital in the meantime.”

Police are also looking for the driver of the truck hauling the trailer, Lt Kraisorn confirmed.

“Nobody in the area knew who the driver of the truck was. We are working on tracking him or her down through the truck’s licence plate so we can get a statement about the accident,” he explained.

“We must question the driver before we can close the case.”
