Patong hotel owner shot

PHUKET CITY: Suppakon “Ko Yin” Ektaweechot, owner of the Hyton Leelavadee Resort in Patong, was shot in the back with a shotgun on Sunday evening as he was eating dinner at Ban Panun Restaurant on Rassada Anusorn Rd in Phuket City.

He is now recovering at Vachira Phuket Hospital and reported to be in a stable condition.

Lt Col Ampolwat Seangraung, Investigating Inspector at Phuket City Police Station, told the Gazette, “K. Suppakon’s two attackers were eating at another table in the restaurant. One of the men left the restaurant first and started his motorbike, the other drew a shotgun and shot K. Suppakon in the back.

“At the hospital, doctors found nine shotgun pellets in K. Suppakon’s body. The shooter appeared to be under 25 years old and was wearing a yellow tartan-patterned T-shirt,” he said.

“K. Suppakon is now in Vachira Hospital and is being guarded by off-duty police officers who are personal friends of his.

“We have no major leads yet and are still investigating the motive for the crime. We believe it may be adultery related,” Col Ampolwat said.
