Phuket Town wins Ministry award
PHUKET TOWN: Phuket Town Municipality will receive a 2 million-baht prize from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for placing fourth in terms of administrative excellence among southern Thailand’s Tessaban districts. The announcement was made at the Phuket Town municipal offices today by Mayor Phummisak Hongsyok. The MoI awards were allotted to three outstanding Provincial Administration Organizations (OrBorJor) in Thailand, 30 Municipalities (Tessaban) and 225 Tambon Administration Organizations (OrBorTor) nationwide. A total of 500 million baht in award money will be presented to the 258 winning councils at an awards ceremony to be hosted by Deputy Minister of Interior Pracha Maleenond at Central Plaza’s Bangkok Convention Hall on July 21. Trang Municipality, which will receive 10 million baht, was adjudged Southern Thailand’s top municipality, followed by Haad Yai (7 million baht), Phattalung (5 million baht) and Phuket. Prachin Buri will receive 18 million baht after being named the nation’s top OrBorJor, followed by Kamphaeng Phet (13 million baht) and Satun (9 million baht). The ratings were given by Bangkok-based MoI officials. The criteria in making the assessments were not included in the Ministry’s announcement.
