Phuket barber found dead inside shop

PHUKET: Thalang Police think a barber found dead in his shop in Pa Khlok yesterday afternoon died of natural causes at least five days earlier.

Thalang Police duty inspector Seksan Komsakorn identified the remains as those of 44-year-old Pira Ruengsamut, a Ranong native who had operated the shop in Ban Ao Por for many years.

Thalang Police arrived at the shop with Kusoldharm Foundation workers after receiving a report from local residents at about 4pm.

Police found the decomposing remains of Mr Pira face up on a thin mattress.

There were no signs of foul play at the scene, police said.

The body was sent to Thalang Hospital for examination and storage until it can be claimed by relatives.

The family of the deceased have already been notified, police said.

Local residents noted that the barber shop had been closed for about five days before the gruesome discovery was made. One man who came for a haircut noticed a strong smell emanating from within and opened the door to investigate.

He found Mr Pira’s remains inside, they said.
