Phuket braces for Children’s Day

PHUKET: Phuket will be abuzz with activity tomorrow as kids celebrate Children’s Day across the island.

Free activities for children will be available at the following times and locations:

Patong

Deputy Mayor Chairat Sukhaban will open events at Loma Park at 8:30am. Activities involve games and performances, a bicycle giveaway and a scholarship handover ceremony for about 5,000 lucky recipients. Activities finish at 3pm.

Phuket FantaSea, Kamala

Children will be admitted free for a wide variety of activities at the Hunsa Village from 3pm to 5pm.

Activities include a white tiger show, a sea life exhibition at the Similan Entertainment Center plus fun fishing activities, and a mini-concert by Viva Bangkok. Mascots, mermaids and other exciting figures will be on hand as kids enjoy popcorn, sweets and soft drinks. There will also be gifts and prizes for lucky boys and girls.

Phuket Aquarium, Cape Panwa

There will be a wide variety of free activities including a “cave feeding” show, a sea clean-up rally competition, quiz contest and other fun games.

A free aquarium design and decoration exhibit, already on display, will last until the end of the month.

Srisoonthorn

Srisoonthorn Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor) President Tanti Wirach will host fun activities in front of the Srisoonthorn OrBorTor offices from 8:30am to 3pm.

Fun activities will include raffles, balloon popping and coloring competitions. Children will be able to have their pictures taken with vintage cars, ride in all-terrain vehicles, sing karaoke and have their picture taken with President Tanti Wirach in his office.

Wichit

Wichit OrBorTor President Kreetar Saetan will be on hand to lead the exciting activities at the Wichit Municipality offices, where lots of prizes and gifts will be given away starting at 8:30am.

Fun activities will include coloring and painting competitions as well as a magic show. Many gifts and prizes will be given away all day.

Kathu

Free activities will be held at Prince of Songkla University Phuket Campus on Wichit Songkram Road. Children will also be admitted free-of-charge to the newly-opened Kathu Tin Mining Museum from 8:30am to 4:30pm. For more information call 076-321500.

Phuket Rajabhat University, Rassada

A full day of fun activities from 8am to 3pm.

Phuket City

Phuket City Municipality will host a number of fun activities at the Saphan Hin Sports Center, including special exhibitions from municipal schools, a remote-controlled model airplane demonstration and educational exhibits by government offices including the Land Transport Department that will focus on road safety.

Royal Thai Navy Base, Cape Panwa

From 8:30am to 3pm a number of exhibitions and events will be open to the public, as follows:

8:30am: Special exhibition and chance to board Royal Thai Navy ship Bangpakong as well as Navy helicopters, followed by a welcome ceremony for Royal Thai Navy Third Fleet Commander and staged shows. Activities will include lucky draw prize giveaway, a kids’ quiz contest, weapons display and a model airplane exhibition.

Noon: Lunch.

1am: Weapons display

2pm: Emergency rescue demonstration by a Navy special operations unit.

2:30pm: Prize and gift giveaway.

3pm: Closing ceremony

Mai Khao

Mai Khao OrBorTor will host fun activities all day behind the OrBorTor offices.

Laguna Phuket

Children are invited to attend the Children’s Day celebrations at the garden opposite Canal Village Shopping Center from 1pm to 4pm.

The event will include such activities as stage performances, games, and arts and crafts. This annual event aims to strengthen relations among the local communities and encourage a positive family interaction among event-goers. Resort guests are welcome to take part.

Bangkok Hospital Phuket

Activities from 9am to noon, featuring a traditional puppet show at 10am.

Jungceylon, Patong

Enjoy a special day of activities with a performance by Shelldon and his friends under the sea in Shell Land. Lots of fun activities and free gifts at the Port Zone at Jungceylon shopping complex. Registration begins at 10:30am and the fun kicks off at 11am. Four Shelldon Shows will take place, starting at 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm and 3:30pm. Closing ceremony begins at 5:30pm.
