Phuket football: Kamala, Wichit host tournaments

PHUKET: Phuket football enthusiasts are welcome to enter teams in the third annual Kamala Cup, a seven-a-side football tournament with 120,000 baht in prize money up for grabs.

All are welcome to take part in the event, including foreigners.

Competition will be divided into three groups: Open (entry 3,000 baht per team), Over -35s (2,000 baht) and Under-13s (1,000 baht).

Teams have until May 22 to register at Kamala Police Station.

Play in the month-long tournament will kick off at the Ban Nanok Field, near the Courtyard by Marriott resort hotel in Kamala.

Prize money will be as follows:

Open: 1st 40,000 baht; 2nd 25,000 baht; 3rd 15,000 baht; 4th 5,000 baht
Over 35s: 1st 15,000 baht; 2nd 10,000 baht; 3rd 2,000 baht; 4th 2,000 baht
Under 13s: 1st 5,000 baht; 2nd 2,500 baht

The tournament is being organized by the Kamala Police to promote healthy lifestyles and keep kids away from drugs.
