Phuket’s Kajonkiet stages “open house’ school

PHUKET: Kajonkiet International School celebrated its official opening on Thursday, with scores of proud parents joining the festivities.

Phuket Vice Governor Somkiet Sangkaosutthirak officiated the opening ceremony, which marked the launch of the school’s three-day “Kajonkiet One Step Ahead” open house.

The “open house” allows parents of prospective students to inspect school facilities and learn more about the opportunities it offers.

“Thailand is moving forward to the Asean Economic Community [AEC] initiative in 2015, and Kajonkiet School sees that English communication skills are very important to Thai people,” Vice Governor Somkiet said.

“English is the key to communicating with other Asean countries for business and investment,” he added.

Kajonkiet School Director Thidaporn Laoviseskul explained to the Phuket Gazette that the Kajonkiet One Step Ahead project gives visitors the opportunity to see the academic work of the teachers and students already at the school.

“This includes academic skills competitions, which build student relationships and encourage them to develop their intellect. The open house also gives parents the chance to see how much the school has grown,” she added.

The new Kajonkiet campus, located on 45-rai in Kathu, opened in May last year.

Kajonkietsuksa School established an exchange program with Shelton College International in Singapore in September last year in a move aimed at preparing its students for bright futures in the travel and tourism industries.

The terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two schools include: exchange of faculty, staff and students; mutual assistance in terms of internship placement, and exchange or transfer of academic credits.

The school yesterday hosted a large graduation ceremony for some 450 students from Kajonkietsuksa School in Wichit who completed kindergarten, primary and lower secondary education.

Today is the commencement day for children from Kajonkietpattana School who completed the same levels.
