Phuket’s new vice governors to arrive on Monday

PHUKET: Two senior officials will arrive in Phuket on Monday to start their new roles as vice governors, providing Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong with his full complement of three deputies.

According to the official order published by the Ministry of Interior, Phuket’s new vice governors are Suthee Thongyam and Pranrob Singhasanee.

Mr Suthee was promoted from his post as Provincial Chief Administrative Officer in Ratchaburi, while Mr Pranrob was promoted from his previous position as director of the regional Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) office based in Kamphaeng Phet.

Mr Pranrob earlier this year was appointed full director of the national Department of Disaster
Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) headquarters in Bangkok, a position he held while still serving as
regional DDPM director in Kamphaeng Phet.

Only one of Phuket’s three vice governors who has served over recent years will remain: Somkiet Sangkaosuttirak.

Former Phuket Vice Governor Sommai Prijasilpa retired at the end of September (story here), and Chamroen Tippayapongtada today confirmed to the Phuket Gazette that he has received his order to begin his new role as vice governor in Nakhon Pathom on Monday (story here).

According to Governor Nisit’s official schedule, he will return from a trip to China on December 3.

He is then expected to announce the areas of responsibility of each vice governor.

V/Gov Somkiet is currently standing in as Acting Governor of Phuket while Governor Nisit is out of the country.
