Pick-up avoiding motorcyclist flips onto rocky Kalim shore

PHUKET: A pick-up truck avoiding a motorcyclist on the Kalim-Kamala Road last night flipped over onto the Kalim shore.

The driver suffered only minor injuries.

Preecha Hachaiboon, 37, was headed from Patong to Kalim at about 11pm on a road slick with rain and spray from large waves when a motorcyclist allegedly cut in front of him.

Mr Hachaiboon swerved on a curve to avoid the biker and lost control, rescue worker Patthanapong Konkwan told the Phuket Gazette.

As waves broke near the overturned truck, rescue workers extricated Mr Hachaiboon.

“He had just a small wound on his hand and head, but we sent him to Patong Hospital to be thoroughly checked, just in case,” said Mr Patthanapong

“Please be careful driving during the rainy season. Wet roads make driving more dangerous. Lower your speed and be cautious.”
