Police add spice to local BBQ

PHUKET TOWN: A husband and his wife who added a profitable sideline to their barbecued food business – selling ya bah (methamphetamine) – were arrested yesterday. Pol Maj Manus Ieamcharoenchaikul of the Narcotics Division of the Provincial Police identified the couple as Charun Thiwong, 49, and his wife Umporn, 48. The pair were arrested after selling the drug to an undercover officer in the Super Cheap parking lot on Thepkrasattri Rd, near their roadside barbecue stand. A search revealed that they had a total of 591 ya bah pills in their possession. Also yesterday, detectives from Phuket Town Police Station, led by Pol Capt Somkid Boonyarat, arrested Nualsri Srimai, 32, a housemaid, at her home in Soi Nopakhun, Maeluan Rd. Nualsri, who subsequently admitted possession of drugs with intent to sell, was found to have 193 pills of the drug in her home.
