Trousers to go on at Phuket Village Health Volunteers Fair

PHUKET: For people looking for a cheap night out on Valentine’s Day, the alternative band Kangkeng (Trousers) will take the stage in a free concert at Saphan Hin tonight as part of activities in the Phuket Village Health Volunteers Association Fair.

The little-publicized fair, organized by the Phuket Provincial Health Office and Phuket City Municipality, got underway last Tuesday and runs though to Thursday night.

A wide variety of food and beverages are available, as well as bouncy castles and other entertainment for kids. One Tambon One Product (OTOP) items are on sale, along with a wide variety of plants, flowers and furniture.

The activities seem more loosely organized than some of the more high-profile events that preceded it at the Saphan Hin Central Stage Area this year.

Culinary highlights include grilled fish, as well as the local delicacy yum khai mangdaa thalay (spicy horseshoe crab egg salad, served in the shell).

Tonight’s performance will also see members of the Chara Band join with Kangkeng on stage.

Other scheduled performances:

Tomorrow: Sri Trang Band
Thursday: Look Klad Band
