Urgent call for B negative blood

PHUKET TOWN: Wachira Phuket Hospital has issued an urgent appeal for Type B negative blood for a young Thai woman who is bleeding internally. Surin Khomkaew, 17, who was six months pregnant, arrived at the hospital this morning complaining of severe stomach pains. Tests revealed that her unborn child had died. Following an operation to remove the fetus, K. Surin was moved to the intensive care unit, but is in urgent need of a blood transfusion. The hospital currently has no B negative blood, which is rare in Asians, a spokesperson said. She added that it is more common among Caucasians. Anyone willing to donate B negative blood should contact the Wachira Hospital urgently on 211114 or 217294-8.
