Wat Chalong Fair kicks off on February 7 [video]

PHUKET: It’s that time of year again. Phuket’s biggest annual temple fair, held at Wat Chalong, will kick off on February 7 to offer one week of local fare and entertainment.

“There will be plenty of food vendors, circus rides, games and stalls set up at the fair. Everyone is more than welcome to come and enjoy themselves,” said Chaiwat Chatchawet, a Wat Chalong temple supervisor.

“Musical artists such as Ying-Lee Srichumpon, Takkatan Chollda and artists from R-Siam will be performing during the week-long event. There will also be the ever-popular Southern Thai nang talung [shadow puppet] shows each night, starting at 7pm, as well as traditional southern manoh-ra dance performances.”

The nightly entertainment at the fair is scheduled as follows:

February 7: Concert by Takkatan Chollda, Tulu-Phan Maitongkham and Luk-Tan R-Siam; Thai nang talung by Arjarn Narong

February 8: Concert by Dech Issara, Lamyong Yonghinhau and Leethang Maithongkham; Thai nang talung by Arjarn Narong

February 9: Concert by Ja R-Siam, Nuch Willawan R-Siam and Nat-Nai Maithongkham; Thai nang talung by Kainui S. Bundit

February 10: Concert by Ying-Lee Srichumpon, Senlek R-Siam and Baifern Maithongkham; Thai nang talung by Kainui S Bundit

February 11: Concert by Baowi R-Siam, Super Valentine girls and Joi Maithongkham; Thai nang talung by Kainui S. Bundit

February 12: Concert by Wong Skypass, Job-Joy Morlampanlai and Arm-Pupa Chingchasawan; Thai nang talung by Eiat-Nui

February 13: Concert by P-Saderd, Jinthala Poonlap and A Maithongkham; Thai nang talung by Eiat-Nui
