PHUKET: Popular all women’s sailing team Lady Sevenstar has officially entered Asia’s most exciting regatta, the Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Race Week (click here for map, held from 17 – 21 July.

“It looked liked we were going to miss the race this time as our usual boat, FireFly Lady Sevenstar /aka the Frog, was not available. Miraculously, in the past week we’ve been able to secure a boat and not just one but two sponsors, so we are excited to go ahead!”, said the driving force behind the team Marieke Derks, representative of the girls’ longstanding team sponsor Sevenstar Yacht Transport.

The team’s Race Week sponsor East Marine, is known as the largest yacht chandlery in Thailand stocking the most extensive range of quality marine products and accessories available.

Liz Schoch is happy to skipper the Lady Sevenstar women’s team on Mamba, a FireFly 850 sportscat. “We were very pleased to be able to charter Mamba from Ian Coulson at a very reasonable rate, thanks to the help of Chris Jongerius of Andaman Sea Club, Bob Mott, Voodoo owner Hans Rachman and of course our sponsors.

“Our regular practice on Lady Sevenstar and participation in our first race, the Phang Nga Bay Regatta last January left us eager for more. Now we are looking forward to help Ian getting Mamba ready and to join another great sailing event in Phuket!”
