Phuket’s Wat Chalong Fair 2013 in full swing
PHUKET: The Wat Chalong Fair 2013, a 7-day extravaganza of performances, food, games and shopping, is now in full swing (map here).
Each night starting at 7pm, fair-goers can enjoy performances by Thai country music (luk-thung) stars and traditional Southern Thai Nang Talung shadow puppeteers.
The crowd of thousands on opening night enjoyed a performance by Jintara Poonlarb, and the Soonthorn shadow puppeteers.
The fair will run from February 10 to February 16.
Schedule:
February 11: Sawika ‘Pinky’ Chaiyadech, a popular Thai soap actress; Ying Thitikarn, a luk-thung singer; Ball Chernyim, a comedian; and Prajuab shadow puppeteers
February12: Mai Davika Hoorne, an actress; Noo Meter, a luk-thung singer; and Suthin shadow puppeteers
February 13: Takkatan Chollada, a famous luk-thung singer from Isarn; Jian Benjaporn, a Southern luk-thung singer; and Kahi Nui shadow puppeteers
February 14: Kratae and Kratai, a famous luk-thung duo; Duangta Kongthong, a luk-thung singer and Pond shadow puppeteers.
February 15: Khet Thantub, an actor; Nui Suweena, a famous Southern luk-thung singer; Silvergold Trio, a girl-group; and Samart shadow puppeteers.
February 16: Tubtim Anyarin, a famous actress from Chanel 7; Mangpo Chonticha, a famous luk-thung singer; Jaturong Mokjok, comedian; and shadow puppeteer Iad-Nui.
